San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, in his postgame news conference, accused the Patriots of disrespectful behavior at the end of today's game. Tomlinson was asked about an unsportsmanlike conduct call against the Patriots, which followed Nate Kaeding's missed field goal with seconds left. Apparently a Patriot player --reportedly feisty cornerback Ellis Hobbs -- did a dance mocking Shawne Merriman's "lights out" routine.
Tomlinson said the Patriots had shown "no class." He said that maybe it was because of their head coach. Then he stepped down from the podium.
wow, what a sore loser

LaDainian Tomlinson, the best running back that will never win a superbowl.
Such a loser, he should at least show some class.

That's almost as sore a loser as the 2003 A's who said Derek Low grabbed himself on the mound. Must be a California thing.

LT's comments about Belichick is transferrence of his hatred for his own coach...
Nice 4th and 11 call Marty.
Nice waste of a timeout (failed challenge) on what clearly was a stripped ball Marty.
Who knows what other complete blunders he made behind the scenes?

all season long we have to listen to how great LT is And how "classy" a guy LT is.
Then at his press conference he actually tells us how classy he is.
Then he looses and shows NO CLASS

I thought that we had loss.
4th quarter and the "Super" Chargers scored an eight point lead.
But the Chargers allowed us to hang!
They made mistakes..penalties..fumbles and we the 'NE Patriots' were still around!
And then 'BINGO' We got BINGO! and Troy Brown saves our season! He strips the ball from the interception!
Troy Brown is the greatest!
Going to Miami!

..lol at "Bingo! We got Bingo!" because I love #80 so very much..
..the guys on WBCN are saying "oh give Tomlinson a break.. he's young, he lost, it was the heat of the moment.." blah blah blah..
SORRY! It obviously wasn't the dance he was upset about, and I can understand the emotional toll of the game and acting out, but to say Belichick has no class, when the man is well beyond reproach when it comes to keeping cool and giving other teams their props? GIMMEE A BREAK!!
Shoulda brought that spite to the field, LT. Now you can go watch tape, enjoy the rest of the playoffs from your recliner, and SAVE THE DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMA!!!

Glad Projo got this up so soon! I got over my shot nerves and headed to the keyboard to riff on Tomlinson's act following the game...a press conference that certainly didn't add to his legend. I'll post the entire thing here:

LaDainian Tomlinson Lectures the Patriots on being “Classy”
I think what it all came down to was one in-depth expose too few for Ladainian Tomlinson this past week. He’s got the Walter Peyton hill in his back yard and had the entire NFL color squad from coast to coast (minus the Boston area) shouting out the kind of thoughtful endorsements that would prompt even Deion Sanders to turn the volume down on his television prior to gameday. But of course it’s not about the quality of the first expose or whether the ego remains chubby by the last one. Shawn Merriman’s shriveled testes could absolutely agree with the notion that in the end, the San Diego Chargers simply could not garner enough praise leading up to this game, and for my money the blame for their losing falls squarely on the shoulders of Boomer Esiason. One commentator had the audacity to suggest that the Chargers wouldn’t win this one going away, and once word that everyone in the entire sporting press wasn’t backing them made its way into the huddle prior to kickoff, in my mind their collective psyche was rattled.
Patriots players made things even worse by performing Merriman’s “signature dance” at the 50 yardline once the final score was decided, which forced Tomlinson to break out of his squeaky-clean zone and venture onto the street. Justice wouldn’t be had in the heat of that moment, but he certainly had a sermon on the mount moment for all of us at the post game press conference, where he criticized the celebration and chastised the entire Patriots team for their lack of class, and suggested that it was most likely a character flaw passed down by their no-class head coach, Bill Belichick.
He makes a good point. And there certainly are lines that should never be crossed. Sure, win the game, have a chance at earning that championship ring Tomlinson wants so badly, but for God’s sake don’t clown on another man’s signature dance move! Is nothing sacred? David Givens did the same thing in the super bowl two years ago by imitating poor Terrell Owens’ touchdown wing-flapping routine,Troy Brown Keeps It Real and that was bad enough. You’d think that the Patriots would have learned from such mistakes, but as NFL MVP Touchdown Record Breaking All-Galaxy Star Running Back Ladanian Tomlinson points out, the Patriots have no class, and because of that, the sanctity of Shawn Merriman’s patented “Lights Out” celebration dance is gone forever.
Now a man of less maturity and character would most likely think that the moral of the story is not to have a “patented celebration dance” to begin with, therefore not opening oneself up to imminent heartbreak when a rival uses it against you. Well, Tomlinson isn’t the MVP for nothing, and everybody knows that from the Ickey Shuffle on, the gentleman’s rule was clear on such matters. The true wisdom in LT’s words today led me to wonder why Troy Brown didn’t have a dance move of his own to throw down after forcing the game-saving fumble on the interception play that should have iced the game for San Diego? Perhaps Troy Brown simply isn’t classy enough to have his own dance.

"what goes around comes around"
Chargers coach tried to get his defenses attention but because of the crowds famous roar they couldn't hear him and the Pats made two. He knew what was coming. Keep yelling charger fans. Oh Well!!!

I understand that LT is emotional and can understand why he would feel that way about the Pats. BUT, there is no reason to blame it on the head coach. How did he draw that conclusion? That was inappropriate. And, to Colvin's point, if San Diego (particularly Merriman) hadn't been mouthing off about how the Pats were going to lose to the Jets and then after that didn't happen, about how the Pats would lose to the chargers, perhaps the Patriot players wouldn't have felt the need to do his dance.
Sure the dance may have been inappropriate, but so were Merriman's earlier comments that caused the reaction and so were LT's later comments.

Oh but is was o.k. for the chargers players to do their dance and celebrating all through-out the game. What a sore loser......

WHAT A SORE LOOSER!!!!!!!! To bad to loose, only if you CA sold more tickets to the game, NE Patriot fans could of been there to PARTY!!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO PATS!!

I have no problem with LT being upset immediately after the game. But after thinking about his actions and showering, then going to the podium and still be upset is not too classly. What his teamate does is classless during the game. What the patriots did was also done in a moment of EXCITEMENT. If people don't want to be marked then they should not do anything to make others want to mark them.

BOOHOO they danced on our logo! Give me a friggin break, what's this U of Miami crap. Are we back in college.
"They dissed me, so I'm gonna put a cap in their backside!"
LT-suck it up, your team lost because you didn't have the balls to finish them off. So... learn how to lose with class, or didn't your grandmother teach you how to do that!
GO PATS!!

I am probably the only one ho agrees with L.T. here. I understand trash talking and behavior like this to a point. But again, doing it *after* the game on the logo of the home team you just eliminated from the playoffs in front of their fans isn't very tasteful. It's disrestpectful. I expect this type of behavior from only a select few like T.O. or Sapp. I would say the same team about any player that came into Gillette and did that after beating the Pats.
I wonder if Belichick will have an opinion?

Patriots won because we wanted it more than the
chargers. The Patriots hit hard and always want
to get the ball. The chargers may have the best
running back in the league but the chargers don't
know how to win the big one's.
What about FAlk THAT GUY IS ALWAYS INVOLVED IN A
POSITIVE SIDE. WAY TO GO FALK

It is probably true that LT lost his cool and was upset that he alone couldn't win the game. But that was probably the most unclassy thing that we will ever see from this phenomenon. See ya Next year LT.

You may only know what the TV camera caught. I was there at the game and want to pass this on to all of you. At the end of the game, LT showed no esprit de corp or classy manners. He instead quickly walked off the field - not shaking hands. It was Tedy Buchi, running across the field to LT, stopping him to shake his hand. Maybe LT learned that to call yourself classy, you gotta be classy - like Buchi! Go Pat's

This is simple! LT is acting like a sore loser and Merriman like the braggard bully who met his match. It happens in all sports which are, after all, games meant to be enjoyed by kids. grow up, Chargers and watch the Pats move on to the Super Bowl.

Thru the Eyes and Ears of a Pats Fan!!!!!!
Does this paper have a Sports Editorial Section?
This goes out to LT and the rest of the whiney Charger Fans. I would like to ramble on a bit regarding Sundays home playoff loss to the Patriots thru the eyes of a long time Pats Fan and Rhode Island native, who was there. LT is one of the greatest backs ever to play in the NFL and now he feels like he has to go on and on and on about how he felt disrespected by the Patriots after their home loss. Guess what LT if you score more points than the underdog visiting team you do not have to worry about that happening. This is the NFL and too bad if your feelings are hurt. Now you can take your MVP ball and go home. You have carried this team on your back for several years and as you can see it takes a TEAM to win the big games. They just don't give them to you like your teammates and fans think happens.
How many times does a Pats Fan have to hear from a Chargers Fan that we are living in the past with our 3 Super Bowl Championships? We heard, "lets talk about today." So OK let’s talk about the Day. The Chargers only have the future. The past has been a continuous disappointment. So Monday should have been a lot easier to handle since you are used to it.
Lets Talk About Class:
Listen up San Diego your team and most of your fans, not all, we met a few good people have more excuses than anyone can count. Your fans have taken a page out of the Raider fan book. You criticize how the Raider fans are rude, unruly, and belligerent. Well, guess what you have become them. The Chargers fans and players can sure dish it out but just like a bunch of 10 year olds sure can't handle any of it back. This was as hostile environment as it can get. All the Patriots fans visiting San Diego took constant abuse over the weekend and most of all in your stadium parking lot about how were going down today in lighter terms and what was the point of us playing the game. Well, for some crazy reason they played the game!!!
The NFL world had basically given you the Super Bowl trophy prior to Sunday's kickoff. Well to take a quote from everyone's favorite sports analyst from ESPN, Chris Berman "That is why they play the game." Inside your stadium stuff was thrown at us, F-bombs thrown around by your fans right in front of your own kids. Way to go Chargers Fans, you should be so proud. 15 years from now when you are back in the Super Bowl run those kids will be you.
If by chance the Chargers would have won that game the 3000 out of 3050 Pats Fans and Players at the game would have been there to congratulate you. Lets be realistic we have a few bad apples too.
Now you have the title of the best 14-3 team with the most Pro Bowlers to be golfing after one playoff game. Oh wait the Ravens are done too. Looks like for some crazy reason they played that game too. I did see a sign at the game that said, " Charger Pro Bowlers 9, The Pats 1." Nice sign it’s too bad you don't get the Ring for being selected to the Pro Bowl. Don't worry LT, Bill Belichick will be game planning for the Super Bowl not the Pro Bowl so you won’t have to sit in the corner and pout. Maybe you can vent to Tony Dungy. He is a nice guy.
On a lighter note. We were driving out of town, heading east and stopped for gas about 20 miles outside of San Diego. This gentleman came up to us and actually congratulated us. He was very friendly and courteous and we enjoyed talking with him. What are the chances? The front of his license plate said” # 1 Charger Fan." Go figure.
Thankyou New England Patriots for giving the Patriot Fans another great sports memory. Let’s keep on rolling thru Indy and into Miami. GO PATS!
