Tom Brady, appearing this morning on WEEI Radio's Dennis and Callahan Show, says the leg injury that kept him out of Sunday night's exhibition game in Tampa is not related to the ankle injury he suffered in last year's playoffs -- though he wouldn't say exactly what it is -- and that he's unsure if he'll be healthy enough to play in Friday night's exhibition at Gillette Stadium against the Eagles. "I'm not sure" if he'll be ready to play, Brady said. "I'm trying to get treatment this week, and I'm feeling better every day. It's going to be up to [coach Bill Belichick], what he wants to do. I think he's been coaching long enough to know that the [regular-season opener] is the most important game for us." His other comments: -- On the current injury: "Same side of the body, and same leg [as last year's ankle injury], but not the same injury." -- On what he's currently doing: "I spent some time this weekend getting treatment on it, and hoping that it responds quickly like it usually does." -- On when he'll play: "The key is not to go out there and aggravate anything when I'm not ready to go. Obviously I'd love to be out there with my teammates, but [Belichick] made the decision that that's not the smartest thing to do right now." CommentsLeave a comment |
THe Pats without Brady are a second-tier team. They would have trouble getting past the first round of the playoffs. That is a given. What bothers me is that the Pats have done nothing to give them another option is
1- Brady can't start the season or,
2 - If Brady is knocked out during the season
Are we to believe in the team's toughness, versatility and ability to think outside the box if they can't gameplay without Brady and can't find a viable back-up QB and give him some snaps? It sounds to me that Brady has becomes the coaching staffs security blanket and they would not like to think about an alternative.
Another think, the announcers were saying that Brady has taken the fourth-most number of snaps ever. At this rate we will have to comtemplate life without Brady sooner rather than later, unless he gets some time to sit during the season.
