The celebrity web site TMZ is reporting today that Tom Brady just closed on an $11-million deal to buy a plot of land in California (reportedly on Arnold Schwarzenegger's street). Brady grew up in California, and his parents, son and other family members live there.

This could explain Brady's absence from practice yesterday. As Shalise Manza Young reported, there were crutches spotted at Brady's locker yesterday -- quite possibly left there as a joke -- and an announcement at last night's Patriots' Charitable Foundation Kickoff Gala indicated that Brady was attending to personal matters on the West Coast.
