Click the play button below to hear Shalise Manza Young's comments, recorded this morning. The topics: Tom Brady's foot problem, the backup quarterback competition continues, and the secondary continuing to look bad.
Here's what Shalise had to say about the state of the New England secondary:
"The secondary -- people said going into training camp that it was a big question mark, and during training camp they looked good at practice, I guess, but since the pads have been on, not so much. Fernando Bryant was really strong in practices, and the game against the Ravens he didn't look so good; the game Sunday didn't look great. Ellis Hobbs is just rounding his way back into shape really, so it's tough to judge him. He's only been practicing for a week and a half, so it takes time to get into shape. He really had to sit -- he had a sports hernia and he had a torn labrum that he had repaired during the offseason, so he couldn't do the type of offseason training that he normally does. So now he's just getting back in fitness and trying to get his timing back, and things like that. Antwain Spann, who's looked really good in training camp practices, he didn't look so hot the other night. Brandon Meriweather is a concern now with his injury; he limped off the field Sunday night. The secondary, which people thought was part of the problem against the Giants, doesn't at this moment look like they're any better than when we last saw them."
