The Boston Globe is reporting that the Patriots informed Chad Jackson this morning that he has been released.

UPDATE: We have had it confirmed that Jackson was released, but as yet have no reason why.

It is certainly a surprise move by the team that they pulled the plug on their 2006 second-round draft pick. Though he had started training camp strong, it still seemed at times as though he was struggling.
