The Patriots are wrapping up their 20th training camp session, held in full pads and in the rain inside Gillette Stadium; it is Friends and Family Night, meaning team employees and their guests are on hand.

Some notes:

** While Jarvis Green and Mike Wright returned, there were 17 players not on the field: QB Matt Gutierrez, WR Kelley Washington, CB Jason Webster, CB Jonathan Wilhite, CB Antwain Spann, CB Lewis Sanders, CB Mike Richardson, S James Sanders, S Rodney Harrison, FB Kyle Eckel, T Ryan O'Callaghan, G/C Russ Hochstein, T Matt Light, TE Stephen Spach and WR Sam Aiken. In addition, G Stephen Neal and T Oliver Ross, who remain on the PUP list, were of course not on the field.

** Typically, Randy Moss and Jabar Gaffney play catch on the sidelines before practice starts, but tonight they played a little footie, dribbling the ball and kicking it back and forth. Wes Welker revealed earlier this year that part of his crisp route-running goes back to his days playing soccer, and Welker showed Moss some drills that could improve his footwork.

** TE Jonathan Stupar spent some time practicing long snapping before the session began, getting tips from Lonie Paxton.

** Tom Brady took his regular snaps, marking the first time we've seen him throw a football since last Monday night's practice session.

** In 11-on-11 work:
- The first-team linebackers were: Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschi, Jerod Mayo and Adalius Thomas; Pierre Woods also took a couple of snaps with Vrabel, Bruschi and Mayo;
- The first-team offensive line: LT Wesley Britt, LG Logan Mankins, C Dan Koppen, RG Billy Yates, RT Nick Kaczur;
- After fumbling snaps -- albeit with a wet ball -- Matt Cassel, Dan Koppen, Kevin O'Connell and Dan Connolly all had to run a lap;
- Ellis Hobbs batted away a pass for Matthew Slater from Cassel and another from Cassel for Gaffney;
- Cassel threw another interception; a throw for Chris Dunlap was off and batted up by Eric Alexander. Meriweather picked the ball out of the air.

** In goal line work:
- on the opening play, the handoff to Laurence Maroney went in for a TD;
- on another play, all of Brady's receivers were covered so he kept the ball and jogged right, jawing with DL Titus Adams as he placed the ball on the goal line and then pretended to spike it'
- on the next play, Mike Vrabel batted Brady's pass attempt and Adams came down with the ball;
- Brady looked to Moss on back-to-back tries, both of them successful. The second was a beautiful ball to the right sideline with Hobbs trailing, though he had no chance of getting to the ball thanks to Brady's placement.

** On kick return, Hobbs broke up the right sideline, and by the time he got to the 45-yard line, the defense gave up. Hobbs, of course, kept running for the end zone and Brady came off the sideline to try to "stop" him.

** Stephen Gostkowski finished the session going 7-for-7 on field goals ranging from 27 to 40 yards.
