The Patriots held voting for this season's team captains, and the eight players who received the honor were announced a short time ago.

Tom Brady, Randy Moss and Matt Light will serve as captains on offense; Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison and Vince Wilfork were elected on defense, and Larry Izzo will be special teams captain.

Brady has been a captain since his first full season as the starter, 2002; Light and Moss are Pats captains for the first time.

Bruschi has also been a captain every season since '02, Vrabel has been a captain each season since 2005. Harrison was elected a captain in his first season with New England in 2003, and also in 2004-06. He was not a captain last season, likely due to his four-game suspension. This is the first time Wilfork has been elected captain.

Izzo has served as captain every year since joining New England in 2001.
