Here's what Shalise said about Cassel and Mangini:
"[Mangini] probably does know some things about [Cassel, from Mangini's days as Patriots defensive coordinator], and you don't know how nervous Matt Cassel is going to be. Everybody knows this is going to be his first start since he was in high school, so you don't know if he's going to be nervous, or what sorts of emotions he's going to have and how it's going to impact him. Eric Mangini [and the Jets], they want to make a big statement. This is kind of a make or break year I would think for him and their general manager, Mike Tannenbaum in terms of them getting back in the playoffs and enjoying some of the success that it seemed like would be coming in their first year with the Jets."
