Here's what Shalise said about the Jets' game plan:
"Jets safety Kerry Rhodes even mentioned it in his postgame comments, that the Patriots didn't do anything fancy offensively. There weren't any new wrinkles; there wasn't anything that wasn't expected. So, that's just a case of Eric Mangini and his coaching staff not preparing well enough. If somebody like me could say a couple of days ahead of time that you would expect Matt Cassel to do the short to intermediate stuff to get his confidence going and for a high completion percentage, then how come a guy like Eric Mangini and his coaching staff couldn't have anticipated that, or coached against it and tried to prevent it? It is really surprising that they didn't do that, because if it's only a six-yard completion, yes it's only a six-yard completion, but then that gives you second and four, or if it came on second down maybe it gives you third and two, and those are odds that you want to have in your favor if you're the offensive team."
