With the NFL's regular season kicking off tonight, now is the time that experts are making their predictions on what's going to happen around the league in 2008.

With that in mind, here are some opinions on how things will shake out over the next five-plus months.

Old friend Tom E. Curran of nbcsports.com predicts that the Philadelphia Eagles will beat the San Diego Chargers for the title, getting the championship they missed out on in 2004 against New England.

Over at sportsillustrated.com, nine writers weigh in with their opinion. Of the bunch, five predict the Patriots will win the AFC Championship, and four of the five say New England will go on to win the Super Bowl. The Chargers, Seahawks, Cowboys and Colts are also offered as Super Bowl champs.

Pete Prisco of sportsline.com predicts that the Colts will beat the Patriots in the AFC title game and go on to the Super Bowl title over the Saints; his colleague Clark Judge says the Pats will lose to San Diego in the conference title game and that the Chargers will top the Saints for the Super Bowl.

Highly respected NFL writer Rick Gosselin from sister paper Dallas Morning News picks the Patriots and Cowboys as his Super Bowl matchup.
