Good morning from a very quiet Gillette Stadium, where it seems obvious that Mother Nature is a football fan -- after it seeming for several days that Hurricane Hanna's effects might impact this game, she blew in last night and this morning it is a sunny and beautiful early-September morning.
The NFL has decided to honor Hall of Fame player and former NFLPA head Gene Upshaw throughout the season, and players will wear a black circular patch on their uniforms that say "GU 63", representing Upshaw's initials and uniform number -- and that same patch has been painted onto the field for today's game. It is on the 50-yard line, near the Patriots' bench side of the field.
We will be back with updates throughout the day.
