The New York Times has a story yesterday discussed a survey the NFL asked the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School to conduct last season which polled players about their coaches, a first for the league.
Roughly 80 percent of players active in 2007 took part in the survey. The highlight questions: which NFL coach would you most like to play for? Which NFL coach would you least like to play for?
Not surprisingly, Bill Belichick ended up on both lists: among those players would most like to play for, he was third, behind the Colts' Tony Dungy and Bears' Lovie Smith. On the least want to list, he was fifth.
Neither New York coach was popular: the Giants' Tom Coughlin was at the top of the least want to play for list, followed by the Jets' Eric Mangini. Tampa Bay's Jon Gruden, former Falcons coach Bobby Petrino and Belichick rounded out the top (or bottom) five.
Players were also asked to name the best and worst organizations. New England came out on top, while Oakland was on bottom.
