FOXBORO -- When Stephen Gostkowski pushed a 27-yard, field-goal attempt wide right just before halftime, it was the first time this season he'd missed a kick of less than 40 yards. He had been 19-for-19, including a 29-yarder earlier in the second quarter.
It also marked only the second time in the three seasons since the Patriots drafted him in the fourth round out of Memphis that he missed a kick of less than 30 yards. The first was in his rookie year of 2006. He now is 27-of-29 for his career from inside 30 yards.
