ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- With severe winds "grounding" both offenses, coach Bill "Bo Schembechler" Belichick had his Patriots run the ball 21 times, for 80 yards, while throwing just three passes, completing two, for 31 yards in the first half.
Meanwhile, coach Dick "Woody Hayes" Jauron had his Bills run 24 times for 115 yards and throw five passes -- all complete -- for just 24 yards.
The first half was a "throwback" -- if you can do that without passing -- to the days of "three yards and a cloud of dust," when teams like Schembechler's Michigan Wolverines and Hayes' Ohio State Buckeyes would pound away at each other, seldom throwing the football.
The Pats led at halftime, 3-0.
