Sammy Morris scored on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line with 2:44 to play, giving the New England Patriots -- who trailed from the second possession of the game -- a 24-21 victory in a harder-than-anticipated matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
A safety blitz by Brandon Meriweather forced a fumble by Seattle quarterback Seneca Wallace that was recovered by Richard Seymour with just under two minutes to play, clinching the victory.
The Pats' win, coupled with the Jets' loss at San Francisco and the Dolphins' win over the Bills in Toronto, creates a three-way tie atop the AFC East. New England, New York and Miami are all 8-5. The Jets currently win the tie-breaker by having the best record (2-1) in games among the three teams, but they still have a game remaining against the Dolphins.
Much more to come as the night progresses . . .
