Patriots' punter Chris Hanson has been named AFC special teams player of the week for the final week of the NFL's regular season.

In New England's 13-0 win in the blustering winds of Buffalo, Hanson punted three times for 135 yards (45.0 yard average) against the Bills. He earned great praise from Bill Belichick after the game for his 46-yard punt in the third quarter from deep in New England territory; the Bills started their drive at their own 36-yard line and it ended with Jarvis Green strip-sacking Trent Edwards and setting up the Pats' only touchdown of the day.

This is Hanson's second career player of the week award; he was also honored in Week 11 in 2002, when he was with the Jaguars.

It was the fourth player of the week honor for a Pats' player this season -- Matt Cassel twice won the offensive award (Weeks 7 and 12) and Ellis Hobbs got the nod on special teams in Week 15.
