Click the play button below to see and hear this season's final edition of projo PatsTalk with Shalise Manza Young. The topics: Why the Patriots have themselves to blame more than the Jets for their failure to make the playoffs; the future of Matt Cassel; the importance of fixing the secondary and the linebacking corps; and our Super Bowl predictions. Both Shalise and I like the Colts to come out of the AFC, but the agreement stops there.

Here's an excerpt from Shalise's comments about Cassel:

"To franchise him can work [in two] ways. They can make the decision to franchise him because they'l need to keep him around because of Brady [if he is behind on his rehab]. Or they can make the decision to franchise him, and then [if] it comes out three to four weeks from now that Brady really is right on schedule or ahead of schedule, then you already have him franchised. Then you trade him to another team. ... Given the dearth of quality quarterbacks that there are in the league, given that so many teams need a good quarterback, would you take a chance on a guy who is experienced, that you know can produce in this league, or would you take a chance on a quarterback in the draft? I think a lot of teams would take the guy who's experienced, a guy like Cassel. So who knows how that could benefit the Patriots."
