Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris, speaking to reporters at the site of Super Bowl XLIII, has confirmed the hiring of former Patriots assistant Pete Mangurian as the Bucs' new offensive line coach.

"He's a good offensive line coach who I trust," Morris said, according to The Boston Globe. "I know what he can do, and he's a fundemantal-based coach who I believe can get us better. That's what drew me to him."

Mangurian's decision to leave the Patriots, where he spent the last four seasons as tight end coach, became known last week.

I find the departure of so many Patriot coaches and personnel at this particular time very disturbing. Do they know something that they're not telling? Don't you think it's odd that even the second tier coaches i.e. Seely, Capers, Mangurian, et al, are re-positioning themselves with other NFL teams at seemingly lateral coaching jobs. This is something that is usually done when a new HC has or is taking over the helm. The new HC always wants his guys, right? So, is Belichick getting ready to jump; either to a new and different team or to semi-retirement (a rest)? Do the departing coaches know something about Brady's rehab that hasn't been made public? The whole thing just makes me uneasy. Why now, why so many and why at all?
