The source termed as "speculation" reports that Cassel will be franchised, although -- as Curran notes -- it seems more likely than not that the Patriots will not allow Cassel to go on the open market given the uncertain status of rehabbing quarterback Tom Brady. The Pats cannot make a decision on using the tag until Feb. 5, and it seems fair to assume that they will say nothing publicly until then (and if they don't use the tag, they won't say anything publicly at all). So stay tuned for more contradictory reports to come. CommentsLeave a comment |
I say use the tag on Cassel. Who knows if Brady is ready. Who knows if Brady will ever be the same again. Cassel is getting use to the system. I say we keep Cassel so we don't spend money on trying to find another quarterback. Because if we let Cassel go, and Brady is not capable of playing, do we think O'Connell can lead us? Maybe. Maybe not. But I don't want to spend another year out of the playoffs. I say we use the tag on Cassel!
