The Patriots have reached a three-year deal with safety James Sanders which will keep the 2005 draft pick in New England.
The Boston Globe first reported that the two sides had reached an agreement.
The 25-year old California native started all 14 games he played in last year.
Sanders' agent, Steve Feldman, confirmed the agreement to the Globe.
"It gives him a chance to grow and become a playmaker," Feldman said. "He stays in the same system with a championship team. They know him. He knows them. It was the right fit."
Apparently Sanders turned down more money from at least one other team to stay with the Patriots.
