Forbes magazine has compiled a list of the best- and worst-drafting teams in the NFL, and according to the article, the New England Patriots rank as the worst. Forbes looked at the last three years of drafts (2006-08), and New England has retained just 50 percent of the players it chose during that time; Houston has 85 percent of players selected for the same period, ranking as the best. But go figure: the Patriots are 39-9 over the last three years in the regular season, including 2007's 16-0 mark, while the Texans are 22-26. CommentsLeave a comment |

I don't know who at Forbes writes this, however, he/she knows nothing about football. As I recall, Brady was a draft pick that no one else wanted. Not retaining picks is meaningless. Sometimes you take them to trade, sometimes they don't fit your playbook, but do fit well elsewhere. How could the winning team, who does everything else so well be so bad at the draft, because they are not you jerk!!!!!!

Perhaps something a little more indicative, such as snaps played per games won per salary paid, applied to draft picks might be more useful.
It's a little like me saying, I kept a bunch of loser stocks I bought over the last 10 years--therefore, I am an investing genius.
