New England has selected North Carolina receiver/kick returner Brandon Tate with the 83rd pick, the 19th selection of round 3.

Tate was named honorable mention All-ACC last year despite missing the final seven games of his senior season after tearing his ACL against Notre Dame. According to a report on espn.com last week, Tate was one of the players who tested positive for marijuana at the Combine.
