One other bit of news Bill Belichick slipped in at the end of his press conference: Pierre Woods has signed his contract tender.
Belichick dubbed Woods, who broke his jaw against Pittsburgh last year, ending his season, "ready to go." With Mike Vrabel now in Kansas City, Woods could be the starter at outside linebacker opposite Adalius Thomas.
The 2006 undrafted pick was a restricted free agent, and New England tendered him at the second-round level, meaning he'd receive a one-year, $1.54 million deal from the Pats or the Pats would receive a second-round pick in exchange for Woods if he signed a contract with another team (New England would have had seven days to match any offer Woods had received).
