Quarterback Tom Brady practiced this morning in front of the media for the first time since his knee injury, and the sporting news corps was out in force.

Shalise Manza Young reports that there were 16 video cameras and at least a half-dozen still photographers from the local and national news media at Gillette Stadium to record Brady's workout today.

Brady was wearing loose sweatpants, and the shadow of his knee brace could be seen through the pants. He admitted that he was wearing a brace, though he would prefer not to.

The practice lasted about 90 minutes. Brady was not flawless in his throws -- he misfired on some of them -- and admitted to being a little bit rusty.

After practicing, Brady spoke for more than 20 minutes to the assembled reporters. Among other things, he said that he is happy to have all the preparation time he can get before the start of real game action, saying that since he last played there are a lot of new teammates and coaches for him to get to know. We'll have more on his remarks later in the day, as well as pictures.

Among those who did not take part in the practice: Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, Jarvis Green, Jerod Mayo, Tedy Bruschi, Sammy Morris and Brandon Meriweather.
