According to reports first on ESPN and now by WEEI's Christopher Price, the Patriots are considering a trade that would send a second- or third-round draft pick to Oakland for disgruntled Raiders linebacker Derrick Burgess.
With the Patriots looking very thin at outside linebacker entering the season, Burgess could help fill the void. The two-time Pro Bowler is in the final year of his contract with Oakland and has stayed away from voluntary workouts to demonstrate his displeasure with failing to reach a new deal.
Burgess, who will be 31 at the start of next season, is a two-time Pro Bowler who had 16 sacks for the Raiders in 2005, but he's been slowed by injuries in recent seasons.
