The day's on-field work is done for New England's rookies, who had a spirited second practice session under gray skies. Some observations from the 75-minute session, for what they're worth: * Julian Edelman had a rough go of things. Playing only at receiver today, Edelman dropped two passes during one drill and at times seemed to be fighting the ball. He is quick, though; * Darius Butler pulled in a couple of interceptions and had a pass break-up. The passes are being thrown by both Brian Hoyer and former college QB Nick Caserio; * Butler and Patrick Chung appear to have already struck up a friendship. The two met at the Senior Bowl and then again at the Combine, and are roommates this weekend. Chung was encouraging and cheering on Butler during a few plays; * Chung looks ready to start hitting, which is no surprise. But the players are in shorts and t-shirts without even shells, so that's a no-no; * A few of the heretofore unknown players are actually already on the Pats roster -- OL Ryan Wendell, LB Angelo Craig and TE Brad Listorti took part in the practices as well (though Listorti was just in the morning); |
