From the Patriots:
The American Association of Museums (AAM) Media and Technology Committee on Thursday awarded The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon a prestigious 2009 MUSE Award for outstanding achievement in museum media. The Hall received a Gold Award in the Multimedia Installations category for its New England Patriots Hall of Fame pylons.
The 35-foot-high, six-foot-wide, double-sided video pylons sponsored by Accenture are the centerpiece of The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. Interactive touch screens at the base of the pylons allow visitors to choose which Patriots Hall of Famer to bring to life through video and other multimedia. The pylons, which are visible from both inside and outside the building, utilize the first indoor installation of a Magink reflective, cholesteric LCD technology, an eco-friendly alternative to light-emitting displays. The pylons' digital ink tiles actually reflect light, making them the only digital video displays that look better in sunlight.
"The Kraft Group is a championship organization and The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon reflects that championship tradition by being the only sports and education experience of its kind," said Bryan Morry, Executive Director of The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. "From the visionary stage of designing The Hall, the Kraft family sought to honor the Patriots Hall of Fame in a way that no other Hall of Fame has been honored, and this prestigious award shows that they have succeeded."
The Hall's Interior architect and designer Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., designed the pylons, Cortina Productions of McLean, Va., designed the interactive content, and Mystic Scenic Studios of Norwood, Mass., installed the pylons.
