The New England Patriots are looking for a good South Dakotan (well, any South Dakotan will do) to visit the Hall at Patriot Place, and do it soon. The team announced yesterday that, since its opening last year, the interactive Patriots museum has hosted visitors from 49 states -- every one of them except the Mount Rushmore State (yes, this is its official nickname and yes, I had to look it up).
And so, the Hall is promising a special gift to the first person who turns up carrying a valid South Dakota ID: a mini-helmet autographed by Adam Vinatieri, the former Patriots hero from Yankton, S.D., who played at South Dakota State.
I'm pretty sure Adam Vinateri was from Rapid City, not Yankton.
