According to reports by ProFootballTalk.com and ESPN, former Patriots wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has reached a plea deal in the accident that killed a 59-year-old pedestrian in Miami Beach earlier this year. Both reports say the agreement will be announced in court on Tuesday.
The reports, by ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio and ESPN's Michael Smith, both quote unnamed sources. Florio reports that Stallworth will plead guilty to DUI manslaughter, an offense that carries a four-year minimum sentence under Florida law.
Authorities say Stallworth, now a member of the Cleveland Browns, was driving drunk when he struck and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes on March 14. Stallworth, who is free on $200,000 bail, pleaded not guilty this month. A trial was set for July 7, with Stallworth facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
