| Harrison conference call scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday; two reports say he's retiring »
The Boston Herald's Karen Guregian reported this morning that she'd received a text message from Rodney Harrison telling her that the Patriots would be holding a conference call on Wednesday during which he'd discuss his future. For the last six months or so, the safe money has been on Harrison calling it a career after 15 NFL seasons and beginning his new career as a broadcaster. The safety was part of NBC's team at Super Bowl XLIII this February and his candid demeanor with a microphone did him well in his on-camera appearances. Leading to the idea that Harrison is hanging them up -- NBC Sports sent out an email about an hour ago announcing a conference call on Wednesday at noon in which chairman Dick Ebersol will announce new talent the network has hired... If Harrison has played his last down, the only sad part from my perspective is that he wasn't able to walk away fully on his own terms. On the final play of the third quarter of New England's win over Denver last Oct. 20, Harrison suffered the torn quadriceps that ended his season and likely spelled the end of his career. Rodney will be ready and if needed fill-in during the season like Junior has been doing!
