So I'm not always the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I'm starting to sense a pattern here: three morning practice sessions, no Randy Moss at any of them. But Moss wasn't the only one not spotted on the sun-baked fields this morning: Richard Seymour, Jarvis Green, Tedy Bruschi, Benjamin Watson, Jonathan Wilhite, Tom Malone, Al Johnson, Ryan O'Callaghan and Myron Pryor, plus the list of PUP guys and Brandon Tate, were also not on the field. It wasn't the sharpest day for the Pats' quarterbacks, as they were either off the mark or getting picked off... * Kickoffs were fielded by Laurence Maroney, Darius Butler, Terrence Wheatley, Kevin Faulk, Matthew Slater and Julian Edelman. Faulk got an earful from Bill Belichick when he muffed a kickoff. In 11-on-11 work: * Tom Brady missed Wes Welker on back-to-back plays, once out wide and once over the middle. When Brady rotated back under center, he went over the top to Welker with Brandon McGowan in coverage. The throw was a touch ahead of Welker, who reached out, got a hand on it, and nearly made what would have been a spectacular grab. * Matt Gutierrez looked to Alex Smith, but the ball was short and tipped by James Sanders. Leigh Bodden plucked the ball out of the air for the interception. Later, Gutz went downfield for Greg Lewis (who is surprisingly quick) with Terrence Wheatley in good coverage. Lewis closed well on the ball and made a nice diving catch. * Brady looked to Joey Galloway on a hot read, but the ball went off Galloway's chest, popped up and was an easy interception for Wheatley. It would have been an easy touchdown, as the offense was deep in its own territory and the rest of the offense and defense were stacked on the opposite side of the field. * After the session, David Thomas' son Jaxon was spotted running around in a tiny burnt orange t-shirt from his dad's alma mater, Texas, and Vince Wilfork was mobbed by his two children while wife Bianca -- due with baby #3 any day -- rested under a tent to stay out of the heat. |
