Pats-Bengals postgame: Wheatley -- TD was "bad technique"

Every cornerback knows he's going to give up passes, and sometimes those passes will be touchdowns.

And sometimes those touchdowns will not be pretty.

Terrence Wheatley was badly beaten by the Bengals' Chris Henry for a 24-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, as Henry went past Wheatley and into the end zone, getting his feet down before stepping over the back line.

"It was just bad technique," Wheatley said of his play. "It was me not thinking the game. I them the game (too much) a lot and that was one where I didn't think it through. They called the right play, and I gave crappy coverage, and a TD usually happens when you do that."

Back on the field after little more than half of his rookie season to wrist surgery, Wheatley wasn't sure if he had taken a step back.

"I don't know until I look at the film. There were some positives and a lot of negatives. But as long as they're not negatives you keep doing over and over again (it isn't as bad)."
