It appears that Ellis Hobbs still holds a grudge with the New England Patriots, the team that drafted him in the third round of the 2005 draft and gave him his first shot to play in the NFL.
Not only did he tell Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer that he deserved a contract extension in New England, but the Eagle cornerback called out a lot of his former teammates.
"I played with a torn labrum in my shoulder and a sports hernia," Hobbs told the Inquirer. "Not one day did I shut it down. I was a starter and on special teams, and I did anything that was required. Guys were dogging it and tanking it sometimes. I mean, put it out there, some guys were faking injuries and getting a certain amount of dollars."
Hobbs is in the final year of his rookie contract and will be paid a base salary of $2.55 million this year.
"The trade was beneficial for me, because I started going down the wrong path," Hobbs said in the article. "There were going to be plenty of problems there. When it happened, it was more of a relief for me. I felt like I didn't get my just due when I was there, but I'm one of many that didn't get their just due there. It has happened before, and it won't stop. I was just one guy before the next guy."
Hobbs started 49 games in four seasons with the Patriots, including all 16 in 2007 and 2008.
