Favre says fines against Jets, which he caused, were unfair

favre_0923.jpgBrett Favre -- whose recent revelation that he played last season with a torn biceps tendon led to fines against the Jets, their GM Mike Tannenbaum and former head coach Eric Mangini for keeping Favre off the injury report -- now says that those fines were unfair.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Favre said today that "I just think [the fines are] wrong. The [Jets] did everything that I felt like they were supposed to. I practiced like half a day on the Wednesday after we knew that I had a torn biceps. The only reason I brought that up was I wanted to address to them that I felt like maybe there were some throws, or I could have played better and because of this injury ... I just wanted to let them know that. I never asked them to put me on the injury report."

Editor's Note: I'm not sure that Favre was expected to ask to be placed on the injury report, which presumably was supposed to have been based on fact rather than the personal preference of the player involved.

Favre said, by the way, that the league never contacted him personally when investigating his comments about being injured.
