According to the Patriots public-relations department, Monday night's season-opening game against the Bills attracted the largest audience of any program on cable television this year.

The game garnered a 10.3 rating, reaching an average of 10.2 million households, which made it the most-viewed show on any network Monday night. Previously, the top-rated cable show of the year was the June 22 episode of that noted sports program "Jon and Kate Plus 8."

The 10:15 Chargers-Raiders game received an 8.9 rating, which moved the "Jon and Kate Plus 8" show to number three on the year.
