Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe is reporting that the Patriots have informed linebacker Paris Lenon that he will be released.
Lenon started all 16 games at middle linebacker for the Lions last season, with 146 tackles, but clearly he did wasn't making progress as he transitioned from a 4-3 system to New England's 3-4. The 31-year old, who took quite a route on his way to becoming an NFL contributor, missed a few days of training camp with what appeared to be a lower leg injury, which did not help his cause.
Lenon's release further illustrates that not every player can fit in every system -- Lenon averaged 135 tackles per season as he started 48 straight games over the 2006-08 seasons for Detroit. Last year, the Patriots signed Victor Hobson, who had been productive with the Jets, and he was also released out of training camp.
