ESPN's Michael Smith is reporting that Patriots receiver Wes Welker expects to play this week against the Falcons.

It was surprising that Welker did not play last week against the Jets, though Bill Belichick said on Monday that it was a game-time decision for him not to play because of a lingering knee issue.

Welker was not spotted on the field during the media-access window today.
