| Pats-Broncos: Welcome to Invesco Field »
DENVER -- No wonder Game Three of the NLDS scheduled for Saturday night at Coors Field has been postponed 'til tomorrow. It's freezing here. Literally. When I walked out of the airport north of the city just before noon today, Mountain Time, I was greeted by temps in the 20s. I could see my breath while walking up the jetway from the plane to the terminal. What I couldn't see, as I drove toward town, was the Rocky Mountains, which overlook the city to the west. They were hidden behind low, gray clouds. Remnants of the snow flurries that swept through early in the morning could be seen on roofs and in shady areas. It's supposed to be slightly warmer tomorrow, when the Pats and Broncos play at 2, although the thermometer may not quite get up to 50. But at least it's not supposed to snow. I've been covering games here since 1979 and have found over the years that the weather is even more unpredictable than it is in New England. It snowed -- really snowed; not just flurries -- one September when the Pats played at the old Mile High Stadium. But I also remember a playoff game here in January of '87 when it was warm enough that the windows in the press box were open. |
