The Patriots have activated tackle Mark LeVoir and receiver Brandon Tate off the physically unable to perform and non-football injury lists, respectively. The take the two roster spots New England had available.
That both were able to be added to the active roster at this time is a relief for the Patriots: with Matt Light dealing with a knee injury, New England had only two healthy tackles for last week's game, Nick Kaczur and Sebastian Vollmer. And with Julian Edelman suffering a broken arm against the Titans and the team cutting its losses on the Joey Galloway Experiment, it is very thin at the receiver position as well as kick returns; Edelman had been handling most kicks and punts in recent games.
Tate, a third-round draft pick this year, is the NCAA career leader in return yardage and also was on the rise as a receiver before his senior season at North Carolina was ended last October by a torn ACL.
LeVoir, a third-year player who started two games at right tackle last season, will likely serve as a swing tackle against Tampa Bay.
