According to multiple media reports, the Patriots yesterday made the surprising move of cutting Tully Banta-Cain, who has played well this season as a pass-rushing linebacker. But Boston Herald reporter Ian Rapoport believes that this may be a temporary, procedural move.
Rapoport reports that Banta-Cain was asked about whether he had been released (which the Patriots have not publicly announced) during an appearance on Sirius Radio's "Movin' the Chains" program. His response: "Yeah, I don't know. There's some stuff going on in terms of the roster. I got to see what's up with that situation." Banta-Cain went on to say that his understanding is he will be back with the team.
We'll update this situation when we can.
