Here's one theory -- other than hometown pride -- for why Rush Limbaugh might be interested in having a hand in the St. Louis Rams' new ownership.
According to Robert Schlesinger of U.S. News & World Report, who cites figures from the Center for Responsive Politics, the Rams are responsible for more contributions to Democratic candidates for federal office and political committees since the 1990 election cycle -- $287,050 worth -- than any other team. And only the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers have given less money to Republicann candidates and political committees -- $9,750 is the Rams' total contribution -- to GOP candidates and political committees in the same span of time.
Overall, the Rams are the most left-leaning organization in the NFL, based on their political contributions. The Patriots, by the way, are the fourth-most liberal-leaning team, with 72 percent of team's total contributions since the 1990 cycle going toward Democratic candidates and committees.
And the most right-leaning team? That would be the Cincinnati Bengals, who have made 99 percent of their contributions to Republican candidates and committees.
