So I know that covering football players means I come across large men on a regular basis, and I used to cover the NBA so I've seen Shaq up close too. But newest Patriot Terdell Sands is an extremely large man.
How big? He says 6-foot-8 and 355 pounds. Personally, I think he may be fibbing a bit on the weight, but still, he cuts an imposing figure.
He chatted with the media today and said, "I'm not as big as most people think I am. I'm just bigger than most people ever seen."
He might be right.
And credit where credit is due: the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian got Randy Moss to talk (briefly) about the terrible pain he was in because of his back last Sunday against Atlanta.
As I'm sure you'll recall, cbssportsline.com columnist Mike Freeman lambasted Moss on Monday, saying he dogged it throughout the game. The man couldn't put his own pants and shoes on afterward, and still recorded 10 catches all over the field. If that's dogging it, I'm sure there's a bunch of players who are getting them some Milk Bones today.
