LONDON -- You can see some strange sights in Soho.

Such as the guy standing on a busy corner with his face painted silver-and-blue, wearing a large, helmet-like contraption on his head, what appear to be oversized football pants, and a Patriots jersey with the number 54.

Wait a minute -- the guy looks familiar.

As well he should, because he's none other than Ed Lasater, aka "Super Pat," who was born in Warwick, went to North Kingstown High, and, although he now lives in Orange Park, Fla., still has more relatives in Rhode Island than the number of people the Patriots used to put in the stands at Foxboro in the early '90s.

Ed follows the Patriots wherever they go -- even to London -- and he always brings his colorful regalia with him.

He's a huge Tedy Bruschi fan.

"Tedy is one of the guys who started the Patriots being the way we are," Lasater said Friday night. "He showed us 'the Patriot way.' I've been wearing his jersey for 12 years now. I'm going to retire it after this season. I don't know whose I'm going to wear next."

Lasater will be in costume Saturday night at Patriots party in a sports bar near Trafalgar Square and, of course, will be decked out for the Pats' game with the winless Bucs on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.

Here's hoping he doesn't show up the official mascot, Pat Patriot.

I am wondering if the Patriots party will be held at a restaurant we went to near Trafalgar Square. It was called the Texas Embassy and it served Mexican food and was very good. There were a lot of Americans in there. We stayed at the Grand Hotel at Trafalgar Square so that caught my eye when you mentioned it. Great blogs, Jim, bringing back fond memories of my trip there!
