The Kansas City Chiefs released troublemaker/running back Larry Johnson today; when he was asked during his weekly appearance on WEEI a short while ago if he had any interest in bringing Johnson to New England, Belichick said, "I would doubt it."
He added that Johnson the Pats likely would lose out to a team higher on the waiver wire if they did put in a claim on him, but the "I would doubt it" is sufficient evidence that Johnson is not in the Patriots' plans.
That is not at all surprising -- Belichick has been wary of Johnson since he came out of college, and he has been a distraction to the Chiefs on several occasions throughout his career. Most recently, he disparaged Kansas City first-year head coach Todd Haley and used gay slurs on his Twitter account. The Chiefs suspended him for yesterday's game, and today cut ties with him.
