The NFL has named cornerback Leigh Bodden, who had a career-high three interceptions in Sunday's victory over the Jets -- including one returned for a touchdown -- as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first such honor in Bodden's seven-year career that he has received the honor.
It is the fifth time in 2009 that a Patriots player has received an AFC Player of the Week award. Quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following Week 1 and Week 6. Safety Brandon Meriweather was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week following Week 7, and kicker Stephen Gostkowski was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following Week 9. Brady was also named Offensive Player of the Month for October.
