Charlie Weis' days as head coach at Notre Dame are numbered.
In single digits.
The FIghting Irish lost their fourth in a row Saturday at Stanford, falling to 6-6.
Now in his fifth season at ND, Weis has failed to finish over .500 in any of the last three, despite having highly-recruited Jimmy Clausen as his quarterback. The Irish have finished the regular season at 6-6 two years in a row now, after a miserable, 3-9 season in 2007 that was one of the worst -- arguably, the worst -- in the school's proud football history.
Weis' record at Notre Dame is 35-27, a winning percentage of .564. His predecessor, Tyrone WIllingham, was fired after just three years with a winning percentage of .580, the same mark that the coach he replaced, Bob Davie, had in five seasons.
Shed no tears for Weis, who'll receive a buyout worth in the vicinity of $15 million and likely could return to the NFL as an offensive coordinator next season, if he's so inclined.
