All this week on the projo PatsBlog, Jim Donaldson will be reliving the 13 games played by the Colts and the Patriots this decade, when the two former AFC East doormats became the hottest rivalry in the NFL. We'll also present archival photos of the games. We continue with the 2006 regular-season meeting won by the Colts in Foxboro.
For the second straight year, Peyton Manning and the Colts beat the Patriots in Foxboro -- which, throughout Manning's first seven NFL seasons, was his personal house of horrors.
In the highly hyped matchup of the two best quarterbacks in the league, Manning clearly emerged the victor, completing 20 of 36 for 326 yards and two touchdowns -- both to WR Marvin Harrison -- with one interception. Brady threw four interceptions, and no TD passes, while completing 20 of 25 for 201 yards.
Given those numbers, it was surprising that Colts -- who came in undefeated, at 7-0, while the Pats were 5-2 -- won by only a touchdown, 27-20.
"That was a tough night, all the way around," Brady said.
It would be even tougher when the Patriots and the Colts met again in the AFC Championship Game in Indianapolis.
