The Patriots announced Tuesday afternoon they'd added safety Ross Ventrone, an undrafted free agent who was released during training camp, to their practice squad. Ventrone had 73 tackles during his senior season at Villanova. His older brother, Ray, played special teams for the Patriots for three seasons.

The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Patriots are not expected to be active.
